True Love, Everlasting Love

Man and the Cross by you.

"The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee." (Jeremiah 31:3)

"Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." Ever Since By Faith I Saw The Stream...

Ever Since By Faith I Saw The Stream....

"Ever since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die!"

"The grandest fact under heaven is this - that Christ by His precious blood does actually put away sin, and that God, for Christ's sake dealing with men on terms of divine mercy, forgives the guilty and justifies them, not according to anything that He sees in them, or foresees will be in them, but according to the riches of His mercy which lie in His own heart. The justification by which comes from God Himself must be beyond question. If the Judge acquits me, who can condemn me? If the highest court in the universe has pronounced me just, who shall lay anything to my charge? ...No tongue can tell the depth of that calm which comes over the soul which has received the peace of God which passes all understanding." (Charles Haddon Spurgeon)

Born in 1834 and died in 1892, Charles Haddon Spurgeon was England's best-known preacher for most of the second half of the 19th century. Here was a man who lived to the full - he was all out for God. It is unlikely that any of us can compare remotely with his God-given brilliance, but we can all ask God for something of his devotion to the Savior and his love for souls. "Nations ten thousand years before....what vast-built cities - what orderly republics -

what pastoral tribes and nomads; what histories, rulers, heroes, perhaps transcending all others....

...what of liberty and slavery among them - what they thought of death and soul; who were witty and wise....

 ....who were beautiful and poetic....

O I know that those men and women were not for nothing, anymore than we are for nothing; ....
I know that they belong to the scheme of the world every bit as much as we now belong to it, and as all will henceforth belong to it...

Afar, they stand - yet near to me they stand, some with oval countenances, learn'd and calm...some naked and savage...some like huge collections of insects...some in tents - herdsmen, patriarchs, tribes, horsemen. Are those billions of men really gone? Are those women of the old experience of the earth gone?....I suspect their results curiously await in the yet unseen world - counterparts of what accrued to them in the seen world....I suspect I shall meet them there...I suspect I shall there find each old particular of those unnamed lands."

Forbid It, Lord, That I Should Boast, Save In The Death Of Christ My God!

Forbid It, Lord, That I Should Boast, Save In The Death Of Christ My God! magnify
"God, taking the form of man, went to the cross and bore His own righteous judgment against the sin of the whole universe.

God, taking the form of man, poured out upon Himself all of the just wrath that was due the whole human race,

so that anyone who gets beneath the cross with Jesus will be shielded from that wrath."

~~Hal Lindsay~~

Clytie, Fredric, Lord Leighton

"Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,

Save in the death of Christ my God!

All the vain things that charm me most,

I sacrifice them to His blood!

To Christ who won for sinners grace

By bitter grief and anguish sore,

Be praise from all the ransomed race

Forever and forevermore!"

O, How Sweet It Is To Trust You!

Clytie, Fredric, Lord Leighton

"Though the sky is gray above me

Though I cannot see ahead

Yet You promised to protect me

And Jesus I believe what You said.

When my eyes by tears are blinded

You took my hand and gently led

O, how sweet it is to trust You!
Cause Jesus I believe what You said."
"...looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith."

It Is In The Unclouded Night Sky That We Read His Infinitude... magnify
"We know that God is everywhere; but certainly we feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread out before us: and it is in the unclouded night sky, where His words wheel their silent course, that we read clearest His infinitude."

I see the stars I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed!"
